Get the finish you want without sacrificing cycle time. Our CBN-tipped insert delivers outstanding surface finish and extended tool life for cast iron finishing applications. Recommended to pair with a Deka Tool B36 Fly Cutter, it’s made to perform where it counts.
WARNING:
Do not exceed listed spindle speeds (Maximum RPM)
RECOMMENDED TOOL: B36 Fly Cutter
-
CBN Inserts can also be used with off-the-self lathe tool holders!
RECOMMENDED APPLICATION: Finishing
- Starting parameters for cast Iron:
- Depth of Cut: 0.01” to minimum cleanup
- Surface Feet per Minute (SFM): 1,500
- Feed Rate (IPR): 0.002”—0.008”
- 1/64 radius insert recommended over 1/32 radius for finishing applications.
- CBN grade and grind geometry geared toward interrupted cuts and finishing applications.
Note: If the surface is "hairy" or sandpaper like after initial pass, run additional pass at the same Z height. Different grades/batches of cast iron can behave differently.
SECONDARY APPLICATION: Roughing
- Starting parameters for cast Iron:
- Depth of Cut: Up to 0.08”
- Surface Feet per Minute (SFM): 1,500
- Feed Rate (IPR): 0.002”
Note:When roughing with deeper depths of cuts, Its best to minimize vibration with these inserts, if you have vibrations increasing RPM or decreasing feed will likely reduce the vibration.
It's also good practice to have as much of the diameter of the tool in the cut as possible to minimize the entry material engagement.
